About Buoybots
The Buoybots are designed to meet the following criteria;
Eliminate the need to establish RC sailing courses using volunteers in boats.
Functionality first, a beautiful object second.
Be similar in size to traditional buoys.
Be as low cost as possible, but no compromise over quality of components (motors).
Be as accurate “on station” as technology and budget limitations will allow.
Intuitive & easy to use control system, capable of complex manoeuvres in experienced hands.
Operate in fresh or saltwater.
Light weight, durable, robust.
Waterproof “on board” control box.
Not “over the horizon” range, but have the ability to range about as far as the naked eye can comfortably see an RC yacht sail number.
Operate at approx. 1.5 knots while traveling to/from their position.
Provide undeniable visibility when, if and which passing boats hit a turning mark.
Eliminate the risk that a boat keel will “foul” an anchor line.
Hold station for six plus hours, in 20+ knots, in whatever chop the fetch pushes up.
NOTE: Buoybots are NOT maintenance free. See our maintenance page for more info
